Background

Nestled in the heart of Western Oromia, Ethiopia, the enchanting region of Kellem emerges as a gem, celebrated for its rich cultural heritage, abundant natural resources, and the brilliance of its esteemed individuals who have made significant contributions to the world. This vibrant corner of the world comprises various subdistricts, namely: Anfilo, Dale Sadi, Dale Wabara, Gawo Qebe or Gawo Kebe,  Gidami, Hawa Galan, Jimma Horo, Lalo Qile or Lalo Kile,  Sayo, and Yemalogi Walal. The town of Dambi Dollo, serving as district office head quarter located in Sayo ditrict.  Each sub-district Kellem has its own unique charm, collectively contributing to the vitality and significance of Kellem.

Kellem is endowed with a wealth of natural resources, making it a vital region in Western Oromia. The fertile soil supports diverse agricultural activities, from traditional farming practices to the cultivation of cash crops. The region’s lush landscapes, complemented by rivers, Mountains and forests, contribute to the overall beauty and environmental significance of Kellem. It is endowed with a wealth of natural resources that play a crucial role in the livelihoods of its residents and contribute to the broader economy. The fertile soils support agriculture including coffee and tea making the region a breadbasket for the surrounding areas. The birth of KDAG

In the vast expanse of the global diaspora, the sons, and daughters of Kellem, scattered across continents, have not forgotten the soil from which their roots sprouted. United by a profound sense of gratitude and a desire to give back, the Kellem community in diaspora has embarked on a remarkable journey, joining hands to uplift their homeland and support the community that sowed the seeds of their aspirations. Rooted in the desire of giving back Kellem Development Action Group, KDAG was born in year 2020.

The Kellem diaspora, dispersed far and wide, has become a testament to the enduring ties that bind individuals to their place of origin.
